The North Coast Athletic Conference has inked a two-year partnership with compliance and education software company Athliance. This partnership will provide a centralized source for education and compliance resources for the NCAC office, its 10 member schools and will be a benefit to NCAC student-athletes.

The agreement will provide NCAC institutions with the resources and technology necessary to support student-athletes’ opportunities related to name, image and likeness (NIL). Tools include educational resources and a convenient, customizable disclosure technology platform.

“This partnership with Athliance will give our student-athletes and our institutions the confidence to enter into the NIL era,” said NCAC Executive Director Keri Alexander Luchowski. “Their focus on education and compliance makes Peter Schoenthal and his team at Athliance great partners for us. This platform gives us some needed stability as we see how the NIL environment will develop over time. We couldn’t be more pleased to offer these tools to our student-athletes and to our member schools.” NCAC student-athletes will be equipped with a wide range of educational and financial materials through the Athliance platform, including videos, articles, podcasts and webinars to help them navigate this new landscape of name, image and likeness. The Athliance platform also provides NCAC athletic departments with robust, yet easy-to-use, compliance tools to assist in the management and monitoring of student-athlete NIL activities, ensuring their student-athletes can take advantage of any and all opportunities that are compliant with all applicable institutional, NCAA and state laws. Currently, Ohio and Pennsylvania are both operating under state mandates or laws, while Indiana is not yet. However, Indiana schools can develop NIL policies and procedures in accordance with the NCAA’s interim policy.

“Athliance is beyond excited to partner with the NCAC in order to help assist their student-athletes and athletic departments as we embark on Name Image and Likeness together,” said Athliance Chief Executive Officer Peter Schoenthal. “We are solely focused on educating and protecting both student-athletes and universities alike from the pitfalls that are sure to come. Nobody truly knows what to expect, but one thing is certain: NIL is here to stay.” As part of the partnership, Athliance will become the presenting sponsor of the NCAC’s Athlete of the Week Awards, beginning in the fall of 2021. The conference names Athletes of the Week throughout the regular season in each of its 23 sports.

About the North Coast Athletic Conference

Founded in 1983, the North Coast Athletic Conference is dedicated to fostering a complementary relationship between intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence. Consisting of 10 academically selective colleges and universities in Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania — Allegheny College, Denison University, DePauw University, Hiram College, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Wabash College, Wittenberg University, The College of Wooster, along with affiliate member Earlham College — the NCAC believes that high-level athletic programs need not be sacrificed in order to meet rigid academic standards.

The goals of the conference express the best aspirations of American amateur athletics. The NCAC brings together a group of institutions which share a common allegiance to academic quality and to the conduct of athletics so as to support the educational purpose.

The North Coast has shown not only that these ideals can coexist, but that they can flourish. NCAC members have collected 69 national team championships, numerous individual national titles, 200 NCAA Postgraduate scholarship winners, 20 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans of the Year and the very first NCAA Woman of the Year from Division III, since the conference’s first playing season in 1984-85.

The NCAC’s commitment to equity, its broad base of athletic programs, and an unwavering insistence on excellence in academics has served as a model for conferences throughout the country.  The NCAC continues as a pace-setter in the 21st century.
